Corduro combines Square’s mobile device and cardcase capabilities with the reach of Facebook, Twitter and other social networks. Corduro’s enterprise platform provides a complete Payments as a Service (PaaS) framework, supporting mobile, online and point of sale (POS) terminals. Unlike Square, which is designed for small merchants and casual use, Corduro takes a mobile first approach that provides enterprise grade support for organizations of all sizes anywhere in the world, giving Corduro a huge addressable market.
Corduro is not just another way to accept credit card payments; Corduro uses member’s social networks to provide retailers and organizations with true network reach, in a way that no one else does. This provides significant big data and social media capabilities along with its simpler payment processing; all at a significant savings compared to every other payment processing platform in the market (Square, PayPal, Google Checkout, WePay, Authorize.net, etc).
The Current capabilities include full PCI and HIPAA compliant transactional support as well as least cost transactional routing (credit, debit or ACH) along with social media integration providing a significant force multiplier for business and nonprofit organizations.
These capabilities can initially be delivered alongside existing payment processing systems and back-office systems thereby eliminating the implementation risk and worry associated with changing mission-critical systems.
Corduro is privately held and started processing online transactions in 2010. Current investors include Google Ventures, WTI, Founders Collective and Heartland Capital.
